1. Facts

Pen Type:Ballpoint pen
Weight:7.7 g without cap
Length:5.27 inch without cap
Girth:1.37 inch
Price:§ 7.39
Scope of delivery:Pen incl. Refill

2. Manufacturing

The Schneider Slider Memo XB is very similar to the Schneider Slider Rave XB. It is almost the same pen, only the refill is “secured” by a cap instead of a click mechanism. The Schneider Slider Memo XB is also very well made and offers a good grip with its non-slip surface. The clip is made of metal and very sturdy.

3. Writing Performance

The Slider Memo XB and the Slider Rave XB are identical except for the lid, both in shape and refill. Therefore the following paragraph is the same as for the Slider Rave XB:

The Slider Memo XB glides smoothly over the paper. The refill is relatively wide at the front, so that the ballpoint pen still writes even if the refill is not at a 90 degree angle to the sheet. But this also has the disadvantage that the line is not as fine and quickly looks messy. As usual with ballpoint pens, the line width depends on the pressure with which the pen is moved over the paper. However, the Slider Memo XB requires a relatively high pressure for an easily readable line, which has the disadvantage that the line width is not constant, especially when writing fast. See illustration.

The Slider Memo XB writes well on correction band.

4. 5-Hour Written Exam Test

Again, the Slider Memo XB and the Slider Rave XB are no different when it comes to this criterion, so this paragraph is also applicable for the Slider Rave XB :

The Slider Memo XB is also suitable for long writing sessions. Thanks to the fact that it glides easily and smoothly over the paper, you can also write very quickly with it. The slightly roughened texture provides a good grip when writing fast, even with sweaty fingers.

After about 2 hours of writing through, my middle finger, which the pen was resting on, started hurting because the pen has to be pressed relatively hard against the paper in order for it to write evenly, even though it glides well. This also causes the hand to cramp slightly from time to time.

5. Conclusion

Conclusion of the Slider Memo XB test & review: The Slider Memo XB is definitely not a bad pen. It is very well made and writes well, the refill glides well over the paper. For long writing sessions, however, the Slider Memo XB lacks an ergonomic shape or a gel grip area.

In my opinion, the Slider Memo XB also takes a back seat to the Slider Rave XB, as the Slider Memo XB cannot be refilled when it is empty. The Schneider Haptify performed better, here is our test for this.
